Professional Communications, Inc, is pleased to announced the publication of the new, 4th edition of Clinical Management of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Diabetes by Drs. Marvin Moser and James Sowers.

Clinical Management of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Diabetes provides a rationale for why physicians should more aggressively treat hypertension and other cardiovascular risk factors in their diabetic patients. Cardiovascular disease risk assessment is presented, along with a review of the preclinical conditions (eg, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, etc) that often precede the development of type 2 diabetes. The data from recent key clinical treatment trials, including ACCORD, VA Diabetes Trial, ADVANCE, UKPDS (10-year data), and ACCOMPLISH, are reviewed in detail, with emphasis on lessons learned which can be implemented into clinical practice.

Specific approaches to reducing cardiovascular risk are presented, including blood pressure lowering, management of lipid abnormalities, antiplatelet therapy, and glucose control. Guidelines for comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction for diabetics are delineated in the text.

Dr. Marvin Moser is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale and Dr. James Sowers is a Professor of Medicine, Physiology, and Pharmacology at the University of Missouri.
